The Lincoln Forum is a popular association of Americans who are interested on the life and successes of Abraham Lincoln as well as the Civil War period. This assembly is in charge of doing activities and projects related to Lincoln, like conferences, tours, essay competitions along online bachelor degree students, teacher scholarships, and much more just for those who are working to honor the memory of the American Statesman.

This year, The Lincoln Forum is doing the ‘‘2018 Platt Family Scholarship Prize Essay Contest’’ which is going to give three prizes up to $1500. The topic for this year is: Frederick Douglass, Stephen Douglas, and Abraham Lincoln.

2018 is a special year for the association, the 160th anniversary of the popular debates that Abraham Lincoln had with Stephen Douglas is going to be celebrated. That is not all, it is also the bicentennial of Frederick Douglass’s birth, one of the abolitionist America had. It is important to highlight the differences Abe and these men had, they disagreed on opinions and points of view, but they are still big influences on today’s political philosophy. The question is: What is the historical impact of Lincoln’s relationships with Stephen Douglas and Frederick Douglass?

This contest is for online bachelor degree students that are taking a full time online degrees in an American college or online university; all of the online bachelor degree participants have until July 31st to send their essays. Being an international online degree student is not a limitation for the association, they are opening this contest for all students that are taking their degrees on American online universities. The forum will check all these requirements before giving the online degree winners their prizes, the Essays will be judged by the forum as well.

The essays must have at least 1,500 words and a maximum of 5,000 words. It also must show the bibliography the online university student consulted to wrote it. The students are not going to have to complete a form to participate in this contest, they are only needed to send their essay with their contact information including the name of the university they are attending. The winners are going to get to announced at the Lincoln Forum annual meeting in Gettysburg on November 18th. The money will be sent in December 2018 and they can use this grants for education.
